When it comes to creating the ultimate home cinema experience, every detail matters—from the visual and audio components to the ambiance and aesthetics of the space. Our recent project in Oatley, which is located in Sydney’s South right by Mortdale, Hurstville, Lugarno and Como, is a perfect example of how a meticulously planned and executed home cinema installation, from as early as the construction stage, can transform a dedicated space in the home into an entertainment oasis.

Our client envisioned a space where the latest in home cinema technology could coexist harmoniously with stylish interior design. The goal was to create a room that not only offered a state-of-the-art audio-visual experience but also exuded luxury and comfort. With that in mind, we set out to design and install a home theatre that would meet—and exceed—our client’s expectations.

At the core of this cinema room is the powerful Epson TW7100 4K projector. Known for its crisp 4K resolution and vibrant color reproduction, the TW7100 ensures that every movie, sports event, or TV show is displayed with stunning clarity. To complement this visual masterpiece, we installed a 120” 16:9 ScreenPro acoustic screen. This screen not only delivers an expansive viewing area but also enhances sound transmission from the speakers hidden behind it.

Speaking of sound, we selected KEF Ci160.2CL in-wall front speakers for the front channels, ensuring precise and immersive audio. For the surround sound experience, we installed 2 KEF Ci160.2CL in-wall surround speakers and 2 KEF Ci160.2CR in-ceiling speakers. Together, these speakers create a surround sound experience that draws the viewer into the action from all angles. To provide deep, rich bass, we included 2 KEF 12” subwoofers. These subwoofers are essential for delivering those low-frequency sounds that make explosions rumble and music resonate, adding depth to the overall audio experience.

All of these components are seamlessly controlled by a Denon AVRX1800H AV receiver, which provides powerful processing and easy connectivity for all the devices in the cinema room. This receiver ensures that the system is always performing at its best, delivering crystal-clear sound and stunning visuals.

No home cinema is complete without a space that enhances the viewing experience, and by engaging us early in the contruction phase of the build of this new house, we were able to factor in some pretty cool features, with the benefit of space on our side. We started by installing a lowline custom-made cabinet to house all of the AV equipment. This sleek piece of furniture not only offers practical storage but also adds a touch of elegance to the room. The client also arranged additional custom cabinetry to house the in-theatre bar, bar fridge and storage so all the convenience of snacks and drinks are at your fingertips. In addition, 2 x raised platforms were incorporated in the design to make room for mutiple seating options and viewing angles. There is no need to leave home!

The walls were painted in Black Skynight low sheen paint, creating a dark, reflective surface that minimizes glare and enhances the viewing experience. This color choice also adds to the cinematic feel of the room, making it feel like a true movie theatre.

To further enhance the ambiance, we installed a Star Light Ceiling. This feature mimics the look of a night sky, adding a touch of magic to the room. Architectural and LED strip lighting was also added around the room to provide adjustable mood lighting, allowing the client to set the perfect atmosphere for any occasion.

For the flooring, we chose black plush carpeting. This not only adds to the luxurious feel of the room but also helps to absorb sound, improving the overall acoustics.

A project of this magnitude requires careful planning and precise execution. Our team handled all the electrical work, cabling, and labour, ensuring that every component was installed correctly and safely. Once everything was in place, we performed a comprehensive programming and calibration of the system to ensure optimal performance. Finally, we provided customer training, walking our client through how to use their new home cinema system with ease and confidence.
