When our client from Edmondson Park in Sydney’s South West, located right by Prestons, Bardia and Denham Court, reached out to us at Home Entertainment Solutions, their main goal was clear – they wanted a dedicated home theatre that oozed luxury, yet could be enjoyed at full volume without disturbing the rest of the household. A major part of delivering that experience involved implementing high quality home theatre sound proofing to contain sound and enhance the overall cinematic effect. Our team provided a complete home theatre fit-out, with particular focus on acoustic performance, aesthetics, and functionality. We’re pretty proud of this unique project and our client was equally delighted!
To meet the client’s requirements for optimal sound isolation and audio clarity, we chose an acoustic fabric wall system as our primary sound proofing solution. This system not only offers excellent acoustic treatment, but also adds a sleek, professional finish to the theatre room. The fabric wall system absorbs sound reflections, reduces echo, and helps contain sound within the space, making it ideal for residential home theatres where noise transfer is a concern.
In addition to the sound proofing, the room was fitted with premium AV equipment including the Epson TW7100 4K projector, 130” ScreenPro acoustic screen, and KEF Ci160.2CL in-wall and Ci160.2CR in-ceiling speakers, all powered by a Denon AVRX-1800H AV receiver. We also installed Proficient 12” subwoofers for deep, rumbling bass. To enhance both form and function, the space features a Star Light Ceiling with RGB control, LED strip lighting integrated via the Tuya App, and black LED downlights for that perfect mood lighting. All carpentry, painting, and carpeting was also carried out by our team, creating tiered seating for that truly cinematic sophisticated finish. The final touches included a cinema acoustic and blockout curtain, professional calibration, and customer training for seamless operation. Check out the photos below for the amazing results!
Our client’s key concern was making sure their home theatre wouldn’t disturb other areas of the house, especially with a growing family and nearby bedrooms. They also wanted a space that felt completely immersive and separate from the rest of the home where they could relax and unwind in an authentic cinema experience. To achieve this, we used the fabric wall system to act as a barrier to sound transmission while also improving internal acoustics. The system allowed us to tailor the aesthetic with fabric choices while hiding cabling and acoustic treatments behind it, creating a clean, streamlined finish. With a combination of in-wall and in-ceiling KEF speakers and acoustic curtains, we delivered a space that looks as good as it sounds—and keeps that sound contained where it belongs.
While the fabric wall system was the ideal solution for this project, there are several other sound proofing methods available depending on room size, layout, and budget. Acoustic panels, bass traps, and carpet underlay with acoustic backing are common alternatives. Some builds may also include mass-loaded vinyl barriers, or double-layered drywall with sound-dampening glue to reduce sound transmission through walls and ceilings.
Each home is different, so we work closely with our clients to determine the most effective approach to home theatre sound proofing based on their unique space and expectations. Whether you want to retrofit a room or build from the ground up, there are multiple ways to ensure high acoustic performance.
